About the Role
This position is exclusively available to current students of American University and offers an opportunity to contribute actively to the university community while gaining practical experience. The role focuses on supporting the School of Public Affairs (SPA) by assisting with social media management and digital content strategies.
Core Responsibilities
- Monitor engagement and mentions across SPA's social media channels to track audience interaction.
- Prepare and compile performance analytics reports to evaluate social media effectiveness.
- Schedule social media content by inputting posts and captions into the Sprout Social platform.
- Research and generate ideas on emerging social media trends to enhance SPA’s channel relevance and audience engagement.
Work Conditions and Compensation
- This is a part-time role requiring approximately 5 hours per week.
- The hourly wage for this position is $18.40.
- The position is non-exempt under FLSA guidelines.
Qualifications and Skills
- Must be an enrolled student at American University.
- Familiarity with a variety of social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, BlueSky, TikTok, YouTube, and Substack is preferred.
- Excellent organizational abilities, punctuality, and strong attention to detail.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Open to learning from constructive feedback and eager to develop new competencies.
- Proactive attitude: not waiting to be assigned tasks but actively seeking ways to contribute.
- Enjoys and is motivated to create content tailored for social media.
