Role overview
The Ritz-Carlton, Doha is hiring a Commis 1 to support its culinary team in a luxury resort setting in West Bay Lagoon, Doha, Qatar. The property is a full-service 5-star resort with rooms and suites, restaurants, spa and fitness facilities, pools, a private beach, a Club Lounge, and event spaces.
What you will do
You will prepare special dishes and substitute items when needed, manage oven, broiler, grill, and roaster temperatures, thaw frozen ingredients safely, and make sure portions, presentation, and garnishes meet standards. The role also includes maintaining food records, checking food quality and quantity, supporting the team during busy service, informing the chef about surplus ingredients for specials, and updating food and beverage staff about specials and unavailable menu items. You will prepare meals according to recipes, quality standards, presentation requirements, and food preparation checklists, including cold food items.
Team and service expectations
The position supports managers in hiring, training, scheduling, coaching, evaluating, disciplining, and motivating employees. You are expected to act as a role model, follow company, safety, and security procedures, report maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions, complete required safety training, maintain a professional appearance, protect confidential information, safeguard company assets, and respond to guest needs with a service mindset.
Working standards
You must communicate clearly and professionally, build positive relationships, work collaboratively toward shared goals, and respond appropriately to colleagues’ concerns. The role also requires following quality standards and being able to stand, sit, or walk for long periods, bend, twist, pull, stoop, reach overhead and below the knees, and move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
Preferred qualifications
The preferred background is a Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree, along with at least 3 years of related work experience. No supervisory experience or license/certification is required.
