ജോലി വിവരണം
Role overview
This is a permanent full-time cleaning position based in Salisbury, Wiltshire, United Kingdom. The role is contracted for 10 hours per week and pays £12.72 per hour.
About the employer
Tops Day Nurseries has been supporting children and families since 1990 and is the UK’s largest employee-owned childcare organisation. Team members become co-owners, with a say in how the business grows and the chance to share in its success. The organisation operates more than 30 nurseries across the South of England and serves babies, toddlers, and preschool children. It also highlights recognition as a World’s Happiest Workplace 2025 and as one of the UK’s Top 10 Apprenticeship Employers in 2024.
About the nursery
The Salisbury setting is a 104-place nursery and preschool on Odstock Road, caring for children from 3 months up to school age. The environment is designed to be warm and supportive, helping children build confidence through positive relationships and play-based learning. Enrichment activities include Forest School, cooking school, yoga, meditation, Boogie Mites, and swimming lessons for children aged 3 to 5.
What the role involves
The cleaner is responsible for keeping the nursery clean, organised, and hygienic, including the laundry area. The role also requires monitoring stock levels and placing orders early enough to avoid shortages. The postholder must be able to use the equipment needed for the job, such as vacuum cleaners, dishwashers, washing machines, tumble dryers, and steam cleaners.
Key duties
- Keep the nursery premises tidy and well presented at all times.
- Sanitise surfaces, toys, and furniture to support a safe and hygienic environment.
- Empty waste bins and dispose of rubbish correctly.
- Maintain shared spaces such as kitchens and staff rooms.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust all assigned areas.
- Use cleaning equipment, materials, and chemicals correctly and safely.
- Report faults, damage, or other issues promptly.
What the employer is looking for
The ideal candidate will have prior cleaning experience; experience in a childcare or educational environment would be an advantage. A strong understanding of hygiene and safety standards is important, especially in settings where children are present. The employer also values a sustainability mindset, including support for energy conservation and recycling. The role suits someone with strong attention to detail, good time management, reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently and follow a schedule.
Benefits
Team members can access up to 60% childcare discount at Tops Day Nurseries, along with discounts and rewards through Blue Light Card and the Each Person platform covering areas such as gyms, cinema, shopping, travel, and more. Health and wellbeing support is included, covering NHS prescriptions, optical care, and dental treatment. The holiday package is generous and includes a birthday day off and a wellbeing day.
Safeguarding and checks
Because the role involves regulated activity with children, candidates must either already hold or be prepared to obtain an enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service, and the cost must be covered by the candidate if they do not already have one. Applicants must also be eligible to work in regulated roles and must not be on the Children’s Barred List. Successful background and reference checks are required.
Equal opportunities
The employer states that it is committed to equal opportunities and aims to provide an inclusive workplace where people feel respected and valued.
