About the Role
The Category Marketing Manager will be responsible for overseeing the entire process of category campaigns, product launches, and trading initiatives aimed at enhancing customer engagement, driving demand, and boosting commercial results. This role requires translating agreed strategic plans into comprehensive briefs and execution schedules while managing collaboration across multiple specialist teams to deliver timely, high-quality marketing activities within budget.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and execute assigned category campaigns, product launches, and trading activities from start to finish.
- Create detailed campaign briefs, activation timelines, milestones, and success metrics.
- Oversee campaign progress including creative development, activation phases, and post-campaign evaluations.
- Ensure campaigns are delivered on schedule, within budget, and meet set quality standards.
- Take charge of daily operational decisions while flagging significant risks or scope changes immediately.
- Coordinate cross-functional workstreams involving Buying, Merchandising, Digital, CRM, Brand, Creative, Media, Social, Retail, and Analytics teams.
- Define deliverables, dependencies, necessary approvals, and responsibilities among stakeholders to maintain alignment.
- Identify and resolve potential inconsistencies that might affect customer experience or campaign outcomes.
- Develop strong relationships to enable swift decision-making, accountability, and quality work.
- Maintain awareness of product priorities, inventory status, customer needs, and trading performance.
- Align executions with product launches, seasonal events, and commercial goals.
- Spot tactical chances to enhance demand or customer engagement within approved plans.
- Adjust delivery strategies as necessary in response to performance data or business changes.
- Provide regular transparency reports and recommendations during category review meetings.
- Ensure consistent and compelling customer experiences across all relevant marketing channels.
- Collaborate with channel specialists to transform campaign concepts into effective activations.
- Protect the clarity and consistency of product messaging, assets, and customer calls-to-action.
- Pinpoint ways to enhance customer discovery, inspiration, and conversion along campaign journeys.
- Guarantee all activations reflect category objectives, fulfil customer demands, and adhere to company brand standards.
- Monitor campaign progress and performance against agreed KPIs and milestones.
- Leverage customer, channel, and commercial data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Manage testing and learning initiatives within assigned campaigns.
- Lead post-campaign assessments, documenting results, insights, and proposed future actions.
- Apply gathered knowledge to refine future planning and campaign execution processes.
- Keep detailed records of plans, budgets, trackers, and status updates for transparent campaign management.
- Adhere to governance procedures while recommending approaches to simplify and enhance delivery efficiency.
- Offer clear assignments, context, and constructive feedback to marketing teams involved in campaigns.
- Share best practices and lessons learned within the Category Marketing team.
- Foster a collaborative, responsible, and high-performing team culture.
Experience & Skills
- Minimum of 4 years experience in category marketing, campaign management, brand marketing, integrated marketing, or customer marketing roles.
- Proven success managing multi-channel campaigns in retail, fashion, e-commerce or consumer-driven sectors.
- Experience managing projects end-to-end from initial brief through execution to post-campaign review.
- Capacity to coordinate multiple specialist teams, agencies, and stakeholders effectively.
- Solid comprehension of customer behaviors and commercial performance metrics.
- Strong organizational skills with disciplined campaign management and delivery capabilities.
- Customer-centric mindset combined with commercial awareness.
- Confident communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and manage conflicting priorities effectively.
- High attention to detail without losing focus on overarching campaign aims.
