Role Overview
This full-time position based in Coimbatore requires the Category Manager to handle designated product or service categories. The incumbent will formulate category strategies and manage procurement processes from start to finish to achieve the best balance of cost control, quality assurance, and supplier performance. Daily tasks include market trend and expenditure analysis, spotting cost-saving potentials, contract negotiations, and close liaison with internal teams such as procurement, finance, and sales.
Additional duties involve tracking supplier performance, overseeing category budgets, aiding sales initiatives with market intelligence, and preparing management reports and presentations. Maintaining robust vendor partnerships, ensuring adherence to corporate policies, and driving continuous category improvements are key to success in this role.
Qualifications and Skills
- Expertise in Category Management encompassing strategy planning, portfolio enhancement, and vendor segmentation.
- Strong analytical capabilities for interpreting data, assessing market trends, and underpinning decisions with accurate insights.
- Competence in contract negotiation and procurement processes, including supplier selection and cost-efficient sourcing.
- Sales acumen to work effectively with sales teams, comprehend client needs, and align category plans with revenue objectives.
- Relevant educational background such as a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, finance, or related fields.
- Proficiency in Excel and category management software tools.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to manage relationships with stakeholders.
- Prior experience in procurement, sourcing, or category management roles is essential.
