Role overview

The Civil & Structural CAD Technician will create precise 2D drawings and 3D models for civil and structural engineering assignments across FEED and detailed design phases. This position supports multi-discipline engineering teams in producing coordinated, buildable, and standards-compliant design deliverables that align with client expectations and project requirements.

Key responsibilities

Draft and model civil layouts, structural general arrangement drawings, reinforcement details, foundations, and steel structures in 2D and 3D.
Prepare GA drawings, plans, sections, and detailed construction drawings.
Generate drawings from concept design through detailed engineering.
Verify that outputs align with client standards, codes, and project specifications.
Collaborate with engineers to understand design inputs and incorporate mark-ups.
Assist with model coordination and clash checking activities.
Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, and process teams to support interdisciplinary alignment.
Contribute to design reviews and incorporate review comments into revisions.
Build models using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, CADS RC, and Navisworks.
Prepare reinforcement detailing and structural modelling outputs.
Support BIM model creation, maintenance, updates, and revision control.
Check deliverables against QA/QC expectations and CAD standards.
Track drawing versions and maintain drawing registers.
Carry out self-review checks before submission.
Package and submit drawing deliverables in PDF and DWG formats.
Work on substation, power, and pipeline-related projects where required.
Support energy, infrastructure, and industrial project work, including civil and structural design assistance, with international project exposure preferred, especially UK-based projects.
Keep project documentation well organized within project systems.
Assist engineers with BOQs and quantity take-offs when applicable.

Skills and tools

Strong capability in AutoCAD for 2D drafting.
Working knowledge of Revit for structural or architectural 3D modelling.
Preferred experience with Civil 3D.
Ability to use Navisworks for coordination and clash detection.
Understanding of structural detailing for reinforced concrete and steel.
Familiarity with civil layouts such as foundations, drainage, and site plans.
Knowledge of FEED and detailed design workflows.
High attention to detail and drawing precision.
Comfortable working in deadline-driven project settings.
Good communication and coordination abilities.
Team-focused with a proactive approach.

Additional requirements

This role requires the successful completion of a background verification (BGV) check carried out by a third-party agency appointed by WSP India. Candidates should ensure that all details shared during recruitment, including uploaded documents, are accurate and complete for both WSP India and its BGV partner.
