Business Intelligence Developer

Position Overview

We are seeking a contract Business Intelligence Developer to partner with the Water Services Team primarily in creating PowerBI visualizations. The role involves a hybrid working arrangement with three days virtual and two days onsite or fully remote if the candidate is outside the lower mainland.

Key Responsibilities

• Convert business requirements into clear technical specifications.
• Design and develop a reusable Data Analytics framework encompassing data ingestion, data warehouse, data lake ODS, pipeline, error handling, Azure cloud data gateway, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI security, and Power BI workspaces.
• Create Data Models aligned with technical designs.
• Utilize advanced PowerBI features such as DataFlow and DataMart for customized analytics.
• Construct end-to-end data pipelines and ETL packages.
• Develop dashboards and reports using PowerBI Desktop.
• Address and resolve daily data-related issues.

Required Skills & Experience

• Proven experience designing and implementing on-premise Data Warehouse reusable frameworks.
• Strong understanding of cloud architecture for data storage and processing.
• Expertise in data modeling, building data pipelines, and ETL procedures.
• Proficiency with technologies including SSIS, SQL Server, REST API, OLAP cubes, and BI analytics tools.
• Advanced skills in PowerBI and preferably Microsoft Power Platform.
• Familiarity with Power BI Service advanced configurations such as DataFlow and DataMart.
• Experience automating PowerBI reports and managing data source refresh settings.
• Capability to analyze data sources to determine transformation requirements.
• Comprehensive knowledge of software development methodologies and best practices.
• Ability to draft technical designs and write precise technical documentation.
