Business Analyst

Overview

This Business Analyst role involves working with the Australian Federal Police (AFP) on a 12-month contract, with potential for two additional 12-month extensions. The position is based in Canberra and operates on a hybrid model requiring some in-office presence. Candidates must be eligible to obtain a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance specific to the AFP.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate the business analysis function to maintain integration and consistency across operations.
• Manage resources, prioritize workflows, develop strategies, and evaluate business outcomes within the designated work area.
• Design and conduct tests for business processes, usability, networks, and trials to ensure confidence in outcomes.
• Provide impactful business analysis in a major organizational segment influencing profitability and effectiveness.
• Advise stakeholders on appropriate techniques, tools, and processes for modeling and analysis.
• Utilize expertise in business analysis methods to interpret and articulate business processes and contribute to organizational success.
• Engage with AFP senior leadership, acting as a liaison between executives and staff.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify needs, define objectives, and secure commitment for results.
• Analyze complex ICT business challenges and recommend feasible interventions.
• Evaluate ICT business improvement strategies, projects, policies, and procedures.
• Investigate business needs, problems, and opportunities, proposing improved processes.
• Develop business cases outlining potential benefits and options for process changes.
• Operate effectively within a small team and provide knowledge transfer to other teams.
