Role Overview

This full-time, on-site position, located in Chilliwack, British Columbia, involves developing detailed building designs and construction drawings focused on custom homes and a variety of residential and agricultural projects. The role demands interpreting client and contractor input, preparing construction-ready documentation, coordinating with structural engineers and builders, and revising plans to meet feedback and regulatory standards. Ensuring feasibility, measurement accuracy, and clear documentation is crucial to supporting project timelines.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive building designs and detailed plans for various construction projects.
• Interpret and incorporate requirements from clients and contractors into precise drawings.
• Coordinate with structural and construction professionals for design validation and integration.
• Review and update designs based on feedback and compliance with building codes.
• Maintain accuracy in measurements and project documentation to support efficient construction.
• Collaborate closely with the design team and communicate effectively with clients and trades to facilitate smooth project delivery.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Proven skills in building and architectural design for custom homes and renovations.
• Strong understanding of architectural concepts enabling the creation of compliant and buildable designs.
• Familiarity with construction terminology and practices to ensure practical drawings for on-site use.
• Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD for 2D and 3D drafting and design.
• Knowledge of British Columbia’s local building codes, zoning rules, and permitting processes, with a willingness to expand this knowledge.
• Exceptional attention to detail, spatial visualization, and problem-solving abilities related to design and constructability challenges.
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with clients, contractors, and team members.
• Educational background in architectural technology, building design, drafting, or a related discipline; relevant practical experience may also be accepted.
• Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
• Experience with Lumion rendering software.
• Understanding of structural and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) coordination.
