Job Overview
The Barista will be engaged in crafting and serving a variety of coffee and specialty drinks ensuring superior quality and customer satisfaction. This role involves preparing espresso-based and manual brew coffees, cold beverages, maintaining equipment, managing inventory, and upholding cleanliness standards in the café environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare espresso drinks such as Espresso, Americano, Cappuccino, Latte, Flat White, Mocha, and Macchiato.
- Make manual brewed coffees using V60, French Press, AeroPress, Chemex, and Pour Over methods following company protocols.
- Create cold drinks including Cold Brew, Nitro Coffee, Frappes, Iced Coffees, Milkshakes, Mocktails, and Smoothies with consistency in taste and presentation.
- Complete daily calibration of grinders and adjust espresso extractions for quality assurance.
- Steam and texture milk appropriately to support latte art.
- Operate and maintain coffee machines, grinders, and other café equipment effectively.
- Ensure freshness and proper storage of coffee beans and ingredients using FIFO/FEFO methods.
- Follow standardized recipes and appropriate portion control.
- Manage customer orders professionally and provide recommendations on menu items.
- Keep the coffee station and beverage service area clean and organized.
- Monitor and report stock levels of consumables like coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups, etc.
- Promptly report any equipment malfunctions or issues.
- Assist in implementing promotional beverages and seasonal menu introductions.
- Adhere strictly to food safety, hygiene standards, and company operating procedures.
Skills and Qualifications
- Extensive understanding of coffee beans, roast levels, and brewing techniques.
- Proficient in operating espresso machines and calibrating grinders.
- Skilled in latte art creation.
- Familiarity with specialty coffee preparation processes.
- Strong communication abilities and customer service orientation.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks efficiently during busy periods.
- Basic knowledge of inventory and stock handling.
- Effective teamwork and time management skills.
