Role Overview

As a Quantitative Strategist within Private Equity, you will utilize a wealth of internal and external data from public and private markets to generate transformative insights that enhance GIC's investment capabilities. This role leads the adoption of AI technologies to improve investment decision-making and operational efficiency, institutionalizing quantitative research to support strategic investment processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Derive distinctive investment insights by harnessing data analytics and AI to identify risks and opportunities enhancing decision-making.
  • Collaborate with deal teams at all investment stages to help shape theses, assess prospects, and provide portfolio monitoring through data-driven analysis.
  • Design scalable analytics and AI tools, models, and data products applicable across multiple deals, sectors, and portfolio companies.
  • Rapidly prototype innovative analytical methods, AI solutions, and decision-support systems to validate impactful use cases with investment teams.
  • Incorporate alternative and proprietary data sets to generate differentiated and deeper investment perspectives.
  • Foster a data-driven investment culture, partnering with deal teams to increase analytics and AI utilization in processes.
  • Perform portfolio-wide and thematic analyses to detect investment trends, risks, and emerging opportunities.
  • Coordinate with technology, data, and other strategy teams to establish reusable capabilities and disseminate best practices.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Academic credentials in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or related disciplines with experience in data science or quantitative research.
  • Proficient with generative AI platforms such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face, or comparable frameworks.
  • Hands-on expertise in Databricks for data engineering, analytics, and deploying models.
  • Strong comprehension of large language models (LLMs), prompt engineering techniques, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
  • Skilled in Python and SQL programming; knowledge of cloud AI services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and vector databases like OpenSearch, Pinecone, or FAISS is advantageous.
  • Experience managing varied data types, including structured and unstructured textual data.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and synthesis capabilities combining generative AI outputs with quantitative reasoning.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills with an ability to translate technical results into actionable investment insights.
  • Energetic, positive attitude with eagerness to learn the private equity process and continuously advance technical competencies.
  • Proven integrity and confidence for engaging with senior-level stakeholders.
  • Background in Private Equity or related investment domains is an added advantage.
