Role & Impact
As an Analytics Engineer, you will convert Blinq's expanding data assets into reliable, actionable insights impacting Product, Growth, Revenue, and Operations teams. This pivotal role blends data engineering with analytics to build data models, metrics, and self-service data infrastructure that inform understanding of user acquisition, engagement, and revenue. The position is hybrid-based in Melbourne or Sydney.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and enhance Blinq's analytics architecture by designing reusable data models that transform raw data into trusted datasets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Product, Growth, Revenue, Finance, and Engineering to transform vague business questions into precise metrics and analyses.
- Create and sustain scalable ELT pipelines using tools like SQL, dbt, and cloud data warehousing technologies.
- Establish canonical metrics and semantic frameworks to ensure consistency across dashboards and decision-making processes.
- Develop comprehensive dashboards and self-service reporting tools facilitating swift, independent analysis by teams.
- Support analytics for product features and experiments such as funnel analysis, cohort tracking, user retention, activation, monetization, and A/B testing methodologies.
- Enhance data quality and reliability through rigorous testing, documentation, lineage tracking, monitoring, and clear data ownership.
- Conduct complex investigations to uncover underlying reasons for performance trends and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
- Partner with data and software engineers to refine instrumentation, event tracking, and ensure data integrity across sources.
- Drive improvements in data usage standards, tooling, and analytics practices to support company scaling.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- A minimum of three years’ experience in analytics engineering, data analytics, BI, or data engineering, preferably within a fast-growing SaaS environment, demonstrating strong ownership and adaptability.
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL and dbt, including constructing maintainable data models and enforcing robust testing, documentation, and quality assurance standards.
- Practical experience with cloud data warehouses such as BigQuery, Snowflake, or Redshift, coupled with a solid grasp of ELT processes, dimensional modeling, and data governance principles.
- Track record of defining reliable metrics, developing effective dashboards/self-service reporting, and collaborating with stakeholders to clarify ambiguous analytical challenges.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to relate user behavior, experimental outcomes, and revenue metrics, and articulate insights in accessible terms.
