Role Overview
This position is focused on portfolio and market value reconciliation work within investment operations. The role suits someone who enjoys detailed analysis, resolving discrepancies, and working closely with multiple internal and external teams to maintain accurate records and timely reporting.
What You Will Be Doing
- Handle medium-complexity account reconciliations, especially market value reconciliations, while identifying and resolving trade, data, and reconciliation breaks in line with internal controls and client requirements.
- Produce reconciliation reports on time and maintain the supporting control evidence as required by policy.
- Work with Operations, IT, Trade Support, custodians, and portfolio managers to gather information, solve issues, and reduce repeat breaks.
- Support teammates by sharing knowledge and helping maintain a clear, consistent, and well-documented reconciliation process.
- Strengthen understanding of Principal Global Investors workflows, system inputs and dependencies, and end-to-end data movement.
- Investigate assigned accounts carefully, complete work accurately and on schedule, and build strong working relationships across teams to accelerate resolution.
- Grow product, process, and market knowledge through self-study, training, and hands-on investment operations work.
- Contribute ideas for improving break-resolution efficiency by applying knowledge of financial markets, security data, and process sensitivities.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business is required.
- Applicants should have 2 to 4 years of experience in investment operations, mutual fund operations, or a similar domain.
- Strong understanding of capital markets and investment operations is needed.
- You should bring solid analytical and problem-solving ability, along with good interpersonal and communication skills.
- The role requires a collaborative approach while working with Operations, IT, Trade Support, custodians, and portfolio managers.
- You must work ethically and follow applicable laws, the Corporate Code of Ethics, the employee handbook, and all compliance and operational procedures.
- Hands-on familiarity with asset management reconciliations, including market value reconciliation work and discrepancy investigation, will be an advantage.
- Ability to interpret data flows and dependencies across custodian, trade support, and portfolio/accounting systems is important.
- Strong documentation discipline is expected.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including lookups and pivots, is preferred.
- Experience with SharePoint, reconciliation tools such as DUCO, custodian portals, and trade support or portfolio accounting systems will help you stand out.
