Accountant

Position Summary

As an Accountant (m/w/x) at Thorlabs, you will play a crucial role within the accounting team by ensuring smooth financial processes through meticulous and organized work habits. Your primary responsibility will be managing accounts receivable and overseeing receivables management, while also assisting with selected accounting activities to maintain a reliable and service-focused financial administration in cooperation with your colleagues.

This position is initially limited to a two-year contract.

Responsibilities

• Generate and manage customer invoices, ensuring timely and accurate billing.
• Monitor and manage outstanding receivables, handle dunning processes, and reconcile payment agreements.
• Post and allocate incoming payments and reconcile debtor accounts.
• Maintain and reconcile customer accounts, assisting in resolving discrepancies.
• Serve as point of contact for customers regarding invoice and payment inquiries.
• Support month-end closing activities and contribute to continuous improvement of internal processes.
• Collaborate closely with Finance, Sales, and Customer Service departments.

Requirements

• Successfully completed commercial apprenticeship or equivalent qualification.
• Solid knowledge of financial accounting principles.
• Experience with receivables management, particularly in dunning and accounts receivable.
• Careful, structured, and self-reliant working style.
• Proficient with MS Office and experienced with ERP or merchandise management systems.
• Excellent command of German and good written and spoken English skills.
• Friendly and professional demeanor in both written and verbal communications.
• Strong sense of responsibility and teamwork aptitude.
• Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing requirements.
