About the role
Genesis is looking for an Account Manager to help shape the future of energy in Aotearoa New Zealand. In this position, you will work closely with commercial and industrial customers, deepen long-term partnerships, and uncover opportunities that benefit both the customer and the business. The role is relationship-led, commercially focused, and suited to someone who enjoys solving problems, building trust, and creating value.
What you will do
- Look after and expand a portfolio of commercial and industrial customers by developing strong, trusted relationships.
- Spot opportunities to strengthen partnerships through tailored energy offerings and related products and services.
- Run regular customer business reviews, understand changing needs, and shape solutions that deliver ongoing value.
- Assist with new business pursuits and requests for proposal, collaborate to win new customers, and support a smooth onboarding process.
- Keep customer records, sales activity, and forecasts up to date in CRM tools, while contributing ideas to improve team performance.
Location and travel
The role can be based from either the Auckland or Hamilton office, and you will need to travel across the region as required to maintain relationships and support business results.
What you will need
You should be comfortable building real customer connections, interested in how businesses operate, and confident working in a dynamic commercial environment. The position suits someone who is resilient, flexible, and driven by strong outcomes for customers and colleagues.
- Background in account management, business development, or another customer-facing commercial role.
- Ability to earn trust, influence stakeholders, and communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
- Genuine curiosity about customer challenges and a focus on finding ways to add value.
- Resilience and adaptability when balancing priorities and responding to changing needs.
- Strong commercial judgment and the ability to identify growth opportunities.
- Well-developed organisation skills, strong attention to detail, and experience using CRM systems.
- A full New Zealand driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly within the region.
- Experience in the energy industry is helpful but not required.
