Position Overview
Our Napier yard is looking for a pragmatic, hands-on individual to support general yard duties, ensure safe and efficient daily operations, and assist customers with their basic inquiries and service needs. Reporting directly to the Yard Manager, the role involves safely operating machinery to grade, sort, and purchase metals, with full training provided upon selection.
Key Responsibilities
- Sort, grade, and purchase various types of metals.
- Load and unload trucks, bins, and trailers efficiently and safely.
- Deliver excellent customer service and promptly respond to enquiries.
- Operate equipment such as forklifts and other heavy machinery.
- Weigh, briquette, bag, and palletize materials for transfer and stocktakes.
- Adhere strictly to Occupational Health & Safety policies and demonstrate personal commitment to a safe work environment.
Candidate Profile
- Strong attention to detail, especially in identifying and separating different non-ferrous metals.
- A proactive and positive attitude, willing to engage in training to broaden skills.
- Good written and verbal communication abilities, solid numeracy, and basic computer skills.
- Previous experience in customer service or similar operational roles is preferred.
Desirable Qualifications
- Forklift certification is highly advantageous.
- WTR (Wheeled Tractor) license is a plus.
