Job description
Role Overview
The Weapons Repair Technician is responsible for designing, fabricating, modifying, repairing, and servicing both foreign and domestic firearms, weapons, and their accessories. This role involves work related to external and internal ballistics and terminal ballistics. The technician will build custom pistols, rifles, and other weapons systems with minimal oversight.
Primary Responsibilities
- Carry out detailed assembly and disassembly of various foreign and domestic small arms weapons, including inspection, routine maintenance, and minor repairs.
- Modify, repair, and service firearms and weapon accessories from diverse origins.
- Utilize hand tools such as hammers, punches, files, and stones for assigned tasks, and have working knowledge of gun-smiting machinery like lathes, milling machines, and surface grinders, including some tooling associated with these machines.
- Adhere to essential shop safety practices relevant to a small arms environment; provide support functions such as bead blasting and preparing metal components for refinishing.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested to support the position.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least three years of experience as a weapons repair technician.
- High school diploma or an equivalent certification is mandatory.
- Typically requires completion of a formal one- to two-year accredited in-house gunsmithing course or comparable work experience.
- Training and experience consistent with contractual and delivery order stipulations.
