About the Role
Join the largest and most environmentally conscious fleet operator in the UK as a Vehicle Technician in the Preston Workshop. This permanent role offers stability and variety, working with a fleet of over 49,000 vehicles that includes traditional fuel, electric vehicles, LCVs, and HGVs. You'll engage in a range of inspection, diagnostic, maintenance, and repair tasks across diverse vehicle types, utilizing both your personal toolkit and specialized workshop equipment.
Working Hours
- Full-time schedule of 39.5 hours per week with a rotating shift pattern:
- Week 1 and 2: 06:00 - 14:30
- Week 3: 13:18 - 21:42
- Required to work 1 in 3 Saturdays and Sundays, compensated with two weekdays off.
- Permanent night shift option available: Monday to Friday, 20:30 - 06:15.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary of £40,906 annually.
- Shift allowance of £90.21 weekly for the 13:18 - 21:42 shift, and £135.32 weekly for night shifts.
- Weekend supplements: £53.66 per Saturday shift and £107.33 per Sunday shift.
- Welcome bonus eligibility of £1,500, subject to terms.

Role Responsibilities
- Execute comprehensive vehicle inspections, diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on a variety of vehicles, trailers, and mechanical equipment.
- Utilize your own toolkit for routine maintenance and repairs on both light and heavy goods vehicles.
- Employ specialist tools and shared resources available in a well-equipped, modern workshop environment.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a Level 3 qualification or equivalent in Light or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance.
- Own a personal toolkit suitable for standard vehicle repairs.
- Demonstrated experience handling a broad range of vehicles as a Vehicle Technician.
- Hold a valid UK full manual driving licence, with preference for HGV licence and trailer handling experience.
- Maintain high professional standards and take pride in the quality of work delivered.
- Flexibility to work on rotating shifts and willingness to support team requirements as needed.
