Valuation Engineer

Role overview

Doha Bank is seeking a Valuation Engineer to handle construction-related commercial and valuation work for financed projects in a demanding, fast-moving banking environment. The position calls for strong analytical ability, sound judgement, and the capability to deliver dependable outputs with a clear understanding of construction risk.

Core responsibilities

• Apply best practices in quantity surveying and commercial management, with a solid grasp of construction contracts and contract administration.
• Operate effectively in a fast-paced setting and independently produce high-quality deliverables with strong analytical reasoning.
• Lead the tendering process and supervise outside consultants and valuers appointed by the bank.
• Track risks linked to financed projects and work closely with the CCU and CRE teams before and after sanction.
• Carry out real estate valuations and assess reports prepared by external valuers.
• Examine feasibility studies and contractor profiles to judge delivery and performance capability.

Required profile

• A degree in Civil Engineering is required.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying, contract administration, and commercial management.
• Working knowledge of QCS and the requirements of Qatari authorities.
• Familiarity with the construction market in Qatar.
• Understanding of banking operations and the lender’s viewpoint in project finance and project management.
• Knowledge of real estate valuation methods and review practices.
• Ability to manage a portfolio of more than 20 projects while maintaining accurate and timely reporting.

Preferred qualifications

• A Master’s degree in a relevant discipline is advantageous.
• Previous experience in banking is an added advantage.
• UPDA Grade A engineer registration in Qatar is preferred.
• MRICS certification is preferred.
• Fluency in English and Arabic is preferred.
