Role Overview
The Trade Compliance Analyst for the Asia-Pacific region supports compliance with import/export laws, customs mandates, and internal trade policies. This role is central to maintaining smooth, regulatory-compliant cross-border operations, ensuring uninterrupted supply chains, and managing regulatory risks within a complex legal framework.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in aligning APAC trade compliance practices with global policies and regional regulations.
- Prepare and review precise trade and customs documentation for imports and exports.
- Ensure conformity with customs laws, trade controls, and company procedures throughout APAC markets.
- Collaborate with logistics teams, customs brokers, and internal departments to address trade-related concerns.
- Support classification, valuation, and country of origin processes along with other trade data necessities.
- Participate in internal audits, compliance checks, and respond to regulatory investigations relevant to trade.
- Keep thorough records and manage data within trade compliance and ERP platforms.
- Examine trade data to spot trends, assess risks, and identify areas for process improvements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, International Trade, Business, Finance, or related field is mandatory.
- 3 to 5 years experience in trade compliance, import/export operations, or customs roles is required.
- Understanding of APAC import/export regulations and customs procedures.
- Proven ability to handle trade documentation and support compliant international transactions.
- Strong analytical capabilities and high attention to detail.
- Competence in managing competing priorities within deadline-driven settings.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; additional APAC languages are advantageous.
- Preferred certifications in trade compliance, customs, or logistics.
- Experience in regulated sectors such as medical devices or pharmaceuticals is beneficial.
- Familiarity with Singapore and broader APAC trade regulations.
- Experience in supporting audits and compliance investigations.
- Exposure to global trade management software or customs-specific applications.
- Known for engaging in continuous process improvement initiatives.
Additional Information
- Minimal travel within the region might be required occasionally.
- The role supports the transition of the Orthopedics business into a standalone company, DePuy Synthes, with employment relocation anticipated post-separation.
