Supervisor, Professional DJs and Digital Music

Overview

The Supervisor for Professional DJs and Digital Music at Carnival Cruise Line is responsible for overseeing all recorded music, music videos, and the Pro DJ program across the cruise fleet, which hosts the largest nightclub operation at sea. This role ensures the maintenance of background music programs, digital music procurement, and royalty agreement compliance while serving as the brand ambassador for the DJ program, attending key events and expos.

Key Duties

• Manage the full spectrum of recorded and video music onboard, including procurement and integration with stakeholders.
• Represent the DJ program brand at industry events and expos, helping with design and execution.
• Develop and deliver training programs for Pro and Host DJs, maintain the music library, and keep current with music trends and crowd preferences.
• Coordinate the Fleet DJ Trainer schedule, maintain DJ equipment inventory including repairs, and provide shoreside support for onboard music teams.
• Create and update music training materials and collaborate with multiple internal departments to fulfill music needs.
• Provide feedback on musical performance aspects including technique, style, and engagement.
• Support special events such as charters, company-wide productions, weddings, and marketing initiatives.

Collaboration and Partnerships

• Partner with Casting and Booking to attract and retain talented DJs aligned with creative strategies.
• Work with Groups & Weddings to ensure seamless DJ services at commissioned events, integrating music requests into the monthly library updates.
• Coordinate with entertainment, hotel, and shipboard leadership for musical atmosphere and brand alignment.
• Collaborate across departments such as Bar, Dining, Spa, Celebrations, Security to enhance guest experiences and revenue.
• Maintain partnerships with external gear manufacturers, software vendors, and event organizers while handling fleet DJ equipment procurement.

Safety and Compliance

• Develop and enforce safety training programs in coordination with security teams to ensure operational integrity and team safety.
• Assist with emergency planning and ensure adherence to company policies, Global HESS, ADA, and local/international laws.

Program Evaluation and Financial Management

• Conduct fleet audits and ship visits to maintain music program quality and operational performance.
• Analyze guest satisfaction surveys and feedback to identify improvement opportunities.
• Prepare and manage financial plans exceeding $45 million for music operations.
• Oversee purchasing, vendor negotiations, inventory management, and optimize costs for equipment and supplies.
• Manage travel and expenses aligned with company policies for self and direct reports.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Production, Music Business, IT, or Marketing preferred; Master’s degree advantageous.
• Preferred certifications include Serato and Pioneer DJ.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Deep industry knowledge of DJ styles, equipment, software, and music trends.
• Experience training and mentoring a diverse DJ team.
• Strong communication, organizational, management, and interpersonal skills.
• 3-5 years of experience in music or entertainment industry; cruise or hospitality experience preferred.

Additional Information

• Travel up to 25-50%, including shipboard travel.
• Primarily office-based in South Florida Monday through Thursday with remote work possible Fridays.
• Must be located in or willing to relocate to Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
• Work environment is climate controlled with minimal hazards; physical demands include extended desk/computer work.
• Supervises over 60 shipboard team members, plus DJ trainers and managers.
