About Rocket Lab

Rocket Lab is a comprehensive aerospace company offering end-to-end space solutions including launch services, spacecraft and satellite design and manufacturing. Our rockets and satellites support diverse missions such as space exploration, environmental observation, national security, and advanced technology demonstrations.

Our Electron rocket ranks as the second most frequently launched U.S. rocket, with over 230 satellites delivered to orbit. We are also developing Neutron, a medium-lift reusable launch vehicle designed for large constellation deployment. Our Space Systems division crafts satellites and payload components, contributing to NASA missions to the Moon and Mars, as well as elements of the James Webb Space Telescope.

Role Overview - Facilities Maintenance Supervisor

The Mt Wellington facility is the heart of our manufacturing and innovation efforts, where rockets, satellites, and components are brought to life. The Facilities Maintenance team ensures all manufacturing floors, test environments, and cleanrooms operate seamlessly, enabling engineers to focus on advancing space technologies. We are seeking a seasoned facilities leader to take full operational responsibility for our Mt Wellington campus, overseeing infrastructure across more than five industrial buildings and leading a team in a dynamic aerospace context.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure continuous operation of vital systems including HVAC, electrical infrastructure, compressed air, and aerospace-specific equipment.
  • Coordinate and oversee precision equipment calibrations annually adhering to aerospace standards.
  • Lead maintenance, operational, and process improvement projects that facilitate rocket manufacturing.
  • Manage external contractors, ensure building compliance, and supervise infrastructure-related projects.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 8 years of leadership experience in industrial facilities operations within aerospace, manufacturing, or heavy industry sectors.
  • Experience managing operations across multiple sites or campus-wide with full profit and loss responsibility.
  • Proven track record in building and leading maintenance teams under high-pressure conditions.
  • Background in aeronautical, aerospace, or precision manufacturing environments.
  • Relevant qualifications such as trade certification (Mechanical, Electrical, Fitter & Turner) or Building Maintenance certificate, or a Bachelor of Commerce combined with extensive facilities experience.

Additional Information

The ideal candidate remains calm during critical system failures and excels at resolving complex challenges. They possess the ability to translate intricate technical problems into actionable business solutions while motivating teams towards excellence. We value leaders who have hands-on technical credibility and the respect of their teams earned through experience in maintaining aerospace-level standards.

This role is located in Auckland, New Zealand with onsite work at the Mt Wellington campus.
