Job description

Overview

Join the Council's Highways section as a Street Works Inspector, executing comprehensive inspections of street works to ensure conformity with legal standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out routine inspections of street works to verify compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Track and document adherence to the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA), relevant Codes of Practice, and the Specification for Reinstatement of Openings in Highways.
  • Provide backup coverage for Highway Safety Inspections as needed.

Experience and Skills

  • Previous experience as a Street Works Inspector is beneficial but not mandatory; training will be supplied.
  • Background in the construction industry, including hands-on experience with traffic management and reinstatement standards, is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and high computer literacy paired with effective communication abilities.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in Health and Safety protocols related to highway work.

Compensation and Hours

The position offers an annual salary ranging from 32,061 to 34,434, within a salary band of 30,001 to 40,000, for full-time permanent employment.
