About the Role
Join the State of Indiana's workforce by becoming a Store Clerk at Putnamville Correctional Facility, a medium-security prison located in Greencastle, Indiana. This facility houses over 2,500 adult male inmates and emphasizes rehabilitation through various programs including vocational training and coding education. As a Store Clerk, you will manage commissary operations which include stock handling, supply disbursement, and inventory control, along with supervising inmates assisting with these duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Verify accuracy of received orders and authorize goods upon delivery.
- Communicate with vendors regarding incomplete or incorrect shipments.
- Maintain comprehensive records of inventory and orders.
- Assess and improve inventory and storage procedures as needed.
- Ensure appropriate storage practices and rotate perishable stock efficiently.
- Recommend new warehouse equipment purchases and coordinate maintenance for facilities.
- Assemble equipment received in unpacked condition.
- Oversee security protocols for inmates and staff within warehouse environments.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- In-depth knowledge of supply requisition, disbursement processes, and inventory management.
- Understanding of storage standards, stock locations, and federal and state guidelines.
- Strong communication abilities.
- Knowledge of handling and storing perishable food items legally and safely.
- Capability to train staff and inmates on equipment use and storage methods.
- Proficiency in maintaining accurate inventory and purchase documentation.
- Experience operating forklifts, hand-trucks, and similar warehouse equipment.
- Ability to perform role duties with reasonable accommodations as necessary.
Employment Details
The starting salary generally begins at $29,588 annually but can adjust based on education and relevant experience. This position may also involve supervisory responsibilities depending on requirements. No formal degree is mandatory, though relevant work experience is valued.
