Steward

Position Summary

The Steward role involves operating and maintaining various cleaning equipment such as dishwashing machines, hand wash and pot-scrubbing stations, and trash compactors. Responsibilities include washing and sanitizing kitchen and storage areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment according to strict hygiene standards. The Steward will receive deliveries, correctly store perishables, and manage stock rotation. Proper cleaning procedures using detergent and sanitizing chemicals in a 3-compartment sink for dishwashing are crucial. The duties require inspecting, stacking clean items, returning items that require further cleaning, and using hot water sprays to remove food residues effectively.

Additional Duties

• Sorting, soaking, washing, and re-washing silverware
• Breaking down dirty bus tubs and maintaining cleanliness of trash and dumpster areas
• Cleaning, mopping all assigned departments and managing disposal of glass and recyclables
• Following all company policies including safety and reporting any maintenance or unsafe conditions
• Communicating professionally and fostering positive teamwork to achieve organizational goals
• Lifting and handling objects up to 50 pounds independently and performing physically demanding tasks including standing, walking, bending, and twisting
• Performing other tasks as directed by supervisors

Preferred Qualifications

• No formal education such as high school diploma or G.E.D. is required
• No prior related or supervisory experience required
• No licenses or certifications necessary
