Position Overview
Trinity Care is actively seeking a qualified Staff Nurse to join the newly established Riverview Intellectual Disability Service located in Dublin. This role requires a committed professional who possesses a full clean manual driving license, as this is essential for accompanying residents to their community appointments.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- Possession of a valid full clean manual driving license is mandatory.
- Effective communication skills across all levels.
- Genuine passion for working with clients with intellectual disabilities.
- Registered Nurse qualification recognized by An Bord Altranais.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Attributes
- Experience or formal qualifications related to care for clients with intellectual disabilities.
- Familiarity with HIQA (Health Information and Quality Authority) Standards.
- Previous supervisory roles or experience.
Core Responsibilities
Care Delivery:
- Support staff members in effectively operating the Nursing Home while fostering an environment that prioritizes residents' best interests.
- Monitor and report any health concerns among clients, coordinating necessary GP or professional consultations.
- Ensure thorough completion and maintenance of client care plans in collaboration with clients, their families, and healthcare professionals, adhering to An Bord Altranais guidelines and company policies.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' health and social care needs and deliver direct nursing care as needed.
- Evaluate new clients’ requirements and maintain ongoing reviews for existing clients.
- Keep detailed and accurate records, updating individualized care plans monthly or more frequently as required.
- Perform regular client checks and provide concise shift handover reports to relevant staff.
- Administer medication as prescribed, documenting in compliance with company procedures and An Bord Altranais standards.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity in managing clients’ personal and financial matters, following the Financial Policy to avoid any misuse of trust.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Participate actively in staff and client meetings when required.
- Build and maintain strong communication channels with clients, their relatives, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Offer administrative assistance as needed.
Health & Safety Compliance:
- Report any infectious illnesses or accidents involving residents, colleagues, or oneself immediately to the Director of Nursing (D.O.N) or person in charge.
- Understand and apply the nursing home’s health, safety, emergency, and fire protocols.
- Report defective appliances, furniture, equipment, or hazards to the D.O.N or maintenance team.
- Promote a culture of safe working practices within the facility.
General Duties:
- Adhere to An Bord Altranais guidelines and regulations.
- Maintain required documentation as per regulatory and nursing directives.
- Keep confidential information secure and undisclosed to unauthorized parties.
- Notify the D.O.N or person in charge promptly if unable to attend work, following employee handbook protocols.
- Ensure nursing home security is upheld at all times.
- Follow all company policies and procedures within stipulated deadlines.
- Maintain the cleanliness and upkeep of nursing equipment.
- Carry out additional duties reasonably assigned.
Additional Information
A valid clean manual driving license is a prerequisite, without which applications will not be considered. This license requirement is crucial for supporting client transportation needs during community appointments.
