Position Overview
As a Social Care Worker within the Aftercare Mainstream Services at TerraGlen, based in Drogheda, Co. Louth, you will engage in full-time, permanent employment delivering direct support to youth in residential care. Your duties will include participating in day-to-day activities and routines, undertaking administrative responsibilities, and performing essential household tasks.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Deliver individualized and person-centered assistance and support to young people.
- Encourage independence, support educational engagement, and promote emotional well-being.
- Collaborate effectively within a team that is trauma-informed and values-driven.
- Provide high-quality care to residents based on their unique care plans and guidance from the Centre Management.
- Ensure the principles of the National Standards of Residential Child Care—covering dignity, privacy, choice, safety, realizing potential, equality, and diversity—are embedded in service delivery.
- Report any changes in young people's needs to the Social Care Manager promptly.
- Assist young people in accessing information tailored to their needs to help them make informed decisions.
- Support safety awareness among both youth and staff members.
- Maintain communication with the Social Care Manager, Deputy Social Care Manager, Social Care Leader, and staff regarding center-related matters.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess at least a Level 7 qualification, ideally in Applied Social Care.
- Alternatively, qualifications at Level 7 or higher in Nursing, Psychology, Teaching, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, Social Work, Social Sciences, or Youth and Community Work will also be considered.
- Comprehensive understanding of social care principles and practices.
- Currently completing or already hold a CORU-recognized Social Care Qualification.
- Hold a full, clean manual driving license.
- Demonstrated flexibility to work varied shifts, including overnight sleepovers.
- Minimum of two years' experience in comparable care environments.
Vetting and Compliance
- Candidates must successfully complete Garda Vetting through Tusla and the National Vetting Bureau as part of the selection process.
