Site Mechanical Engineer

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Site Mechanical Engineer to join our prestigious engineering consultancy firm focused on supervising the installation and management of mechanical systems at construction sites. This role involves ensuring mechanical installations are delivered efficiently, on time, and to high-quality standards across various prominent projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee on-site installation of mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection works.
• Ensure all mechanical work complies with design documents, approved drawings, and relevant standards such as ASHRAE, NFPA, and local building codes.
• Conduct site inspections to verify compliance with quality and safety standards.
• Collaborate with design teams, subcontractors, and consultants to resolve technical issues and facilitate smooth execution.
• Review and approve subcontractor submissions like shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals ensuring alignment with design intent.
• Monitor project progress to guarantee timely completion of mechanical installation, testing, and commissioning tasks.
• Provide technical input during site meetings to maintain coordination among disciplines.
• Ensure mechanical systems are fully tested, commissioned, and operational before project completion and handover.
• Assist in preparing daily and weekly reports on site progress and mechanical activities.
• Coordinate with relevant authorities to secure compliance with local codes, permits, and regulations.
• Maintain adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards throughout installation activities.

Candidate Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline from an accredited institution.
• 10 to 12 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering roles.
• Expertise with healthcare-related mechanical systems such as HVAC, medical gases, fire protection, and plumbing.
• Proven experience supervising mechanical installations adhering to standards like ASHRAE, NFPA, and applicable local regulations.
• Ability to review mechanical engineering drawings and documentation for technical accuracy and compliance.
• Knowledge of the commissioning, testing, and handover processes for mechanical systems.
• Competence in managing site operations, interfacing with multidisciplinary teams, and rapid problem resolution.
• Comprehensive understanding of construction-related health and safety requirements.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective engagement with clients, contractors, and project teams.
• Membership in reputed professional bodies (ASHRAE, IMechE) is desirable.
• Experience with FIDIC or other standard contractual frameworks is advantageous.
