SHEQ Officer

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality) Officer to enhance and maintain high standards of SHEQ across our operational activities. You will partner closely with operational teams, managers, and colleagues, identifying hazards, advancing standards, and nurturing a positive SHEQ culture throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine site inspections, environmental evaluations, and audits to ensure compliance with company policies and legal mandates.
• Detect workplace hazards, assess risks and environmental effects, document outcomes in internal systems, and suggest effective control strategies.
• Assist in investigating accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and corrective measures.
• Support the delivery of SHEQ-related training sessions, toolbox talks, and briefings aimed at employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Monitor working conditions to promote employee health, safety, and welfare.
• Collaborate with operational teams to resolve SHEQ issues and drive continuous enhancements.
• Contribute to the development, upkeep, and testing of emergency response plans and associated procedures.
• Help ensure adherence to all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Maintain accurate and comprehensive SHEQ documentation, reports, and records.
• Foster and promote a proactive and positive SHEQ culture within the site and the wider business.

Candidate Profile

• Possession or pursuit of a qualification in occupational health and safety, environmental management, or a related discipline.
• Previous experience in SHEQ, environmental health and safety, or operational compliance roles is advantageous.
• Background in high-risk sectors such as industrial, manufacturing, logistics, construction, waste management, or recycling is beneficial.
• Exceptional attention to detail with a strong commitment to maintaining accurate records.
• Effective communication skills with confidence to engage across organizational levels.
• A practical problem-solving approach, especially regarding risk assessment and control.
• Strong organizational abilities and skill in managing multiple priorities.
• Proficient in IT, including Microsoft Office suite.
• Capable of working independently while also being a collaborative team member.
