Role Summary
This position is focused on strategic sourcing for electrical commodities used in manufacturing and engineering environments. The role calls for someone who can balance supplier management, commercial negotiations, cost optimization, and cross-functional coordination to deliver long-term procurement value.
Key Responsibilities
- Own strategic sourcing activities for electrical items such as motors, cables, control panels, transformers, and VFDs.
- Identify, assess, and onboard suppliers through technical and commercial evaluation processes while building strong long-term vendor relationships.
- Create and execute commodity sourcing plans that support business priorities.
- Monitor the market for pricing trends, commodity movements, and cost changes.
- Handle contract discussions, settle commercial terms, and review supplier performance on an ongoing basis.
- Use a total cost of ownership approach when making procurement decisions to maximize long-term value.
- Coordinate closely with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to align sourcing actions with operational needs.
- Support savings initiatives through alternate sourcing, process improvements, and value engineering.
- Use Excel and analytics tools to interpret data and back sourcing decisions with insights.
- Manage procurement records and documentation in SAP while following internal control requirements.
Requirements
- B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- 5 to 8 years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement of electrical commodities in a manufacturing or engineering setup.
- Strong understanding of electrical components used in overhead cranes and control systems.
- Good command over negotiation, commercial discussion, and analytical problem-solving.
- Hands-on experience with supplier assessment, contract handling, and cost-reduction methods.
- Working knowledge of sourcing tools, ERP platforms such as SAP, and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills for working with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Well-developed market awareness and supplier network within the electrical domain.
