About the Role
The Te Wānanga Toi Tangata Division of Education is seeking a leader for its Master of Disability and Inclusion Studies program. This position provides an opportunity to influence social change in disability and inclusion through both research and teaching across a wide range of educational programs. Contributions to special education within the Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programs are especially valued.
The successful candidate will join a committed team focused on excellence in teaching, research, and postgraduate supervision. They will maintain and advance original research while participating in professional, community, and iwi activities related to disability and inclusion.
A significant part of this role involves a clearly defined research program that enhances research capacity, promotes strategic cross- and interdisciplinary initiatives, and fosters meaningful engagement with communities. Academic leadership qualities such as mentorship, support, and encouragement of colleagues to achieve their academic goals and career advancement are essential.
Compensation and Conditions
- Competitive salary ranging from NZD 113,428 to 148,799 annually for a Senior Lecturer position, and from NZD 150,661 to 166,176 annually for an Associate Professor role
- Additional annual leave provided
- Superannuation contributions of up to 6.75%

- Full-time position, 37.5 hours per week, based at the Hamilton Campus

Applicants must have a PhD and a strong dedication to the field of disability and inclusion studies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a history of nationally and internationally respected research and scholarship, proven excellence in teaching, and successful postgraduate supervision within Human Development or related disciplines.
