Senior Information Technology Project Manager

Role Overview

An esteemed Irish University is seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to oversee a critical migration initiative. The primary responsibility involves directing the transition of university staff and students from Google Workspace to Microsoft 365. The appointment is initially set for 18 months with potential extensions up to two additional periods of 24 months due to the program's large scope.

Working arrangements are hybrid, requiring presence on-site at the University’s Dublin IT Department two to three days weekly.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive end-to-end project plans encompassing milestones, timelines, budgets, and dependencies ensuring successful delivery.
• Provide leadership and coordinate a multidisciplinary team comprising internal personnel, contractors, and third-party vendors, aligning activities to project objectives.
• Manage stakeholder relationships by serving as the primary liaison with university leadership, IT staff, business units, and suppliers.
• Establish and maintain project governance structures, produce required documentation, and deliver status updates and progress reports to senior management.
• Create and manage a RAID log (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies) to identify and address potential problems affecting project delivery.
• Plan and supervise functional testing activities, ensuring quality standards are achieved prior to deployment and sign-off.
• Maintain complete project documentation and ensure all compliance and approval requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum 8 to 10 years of experience as a Senior IT Project Manager.
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a closely related discipline.
• A data-focused qualification is preferred but relevant professional experience may be accepted.
• Demonstrated successful delivery of Microsoft 365 migration projects.
• Proficiency in leading large-scale enterprise cloud transformation initiatives.
• Strong skills in managing stakeholders and enforcing governance throughout projects.
• Experience overseeing vendors and diverse project teams.
• Professional certifications such as PRINCE2 Practitioner and/or PMP are required.
• Prior experience within the higher education sector in Ireland is highly desirable.

Additional Information

Applicants must possess UK work authorization as this position does not offer visa or work permit sponsorship. The role provides a contracting daily rate of €600.
