Senior Generative AI Engineer

Role Overview

Bajaj General Insurance Limited is seeking a Senior Generative AI Engineer specialized in API and microservices architecture to lead the full API integration lifecycle and drive technical excellence. This role is based in Pune, India and requires stewardship of API design, security, performance, and governance while coordinating across multiple stakeholders and vendor teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the entire API integration process from onboarding, design, development, testing, user acceptance testing, live deployment, through to post-launch support.
• Serve as the primary technical liaison for partner teams, managing smooth collaboration and issue resolution.
• Conduct partner migration efforts from legacy systems to modern platforms, ensuring seamless transitions.
• Define, review, and approve API contracts adhering to REST/JSON standards, including JWT and Webhook implementations.
• Guarantee that APIs meet established metrics for latency, throughput, and availability.
• Evaluate API designs for security robustness, scalable architecture, and reusability.
• Implement best practices for error handling, retries, idempotency, and version control.
• Ensure compliance with security standards including Vulnerability Assessment and Penetration Testing (VAPT), Static Application Security Testing (SAST), Web Application Firewall (WAF), and IRDAI regulatory requirements.
• Maintain exhaustive API documentation using Swagger/OpenAPI specifications and prepare onboarding kits for partners.
• Manage audit processes and maintain compliance documentation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Business, Architecture, Security, Infrastructure, Quality Assurance, and third-party vendors.
• Track project milestones, identify risks and dependencies, and ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
• Oversee vendor and System Integrator team performance to assure delivery quality.
• Take accountability for production issues, perform root cause analyses, and implement corrective measures.
• Continuously monitor API operation through Application Performance Monitoring (APM) tools and logs focusing on latency, error rates, and uptime metrics.
• Lead continuous process improvements and performance optimizations for APIs.

Technical Skills and Expertise

• Profound knowledge of RESTful APIs and data formats such as JSON and XML.
• Expertise with OAuth 2.0 and JSON Web Tokens (JWT) for authentication and authorization.
• Hands-on experience using API Gateways to manage and secure APIs.
• Understanding of microservices design principles and architectures.
• Practical experience with API testing and documentation tools such as Postman and Swagger/OpenAPI.
