Senior ELV Engineer

Role overview

This opportunity is for an experienced engineering professional who can handle routine project work with minimal supervision. The role applies established engineering approaches to solve standard technical problems and contributes to the design, coordination, delivery, and planning of projects.

The position supports client-oriented engineering outcomes across GHD's sectors, including transport, water, property and buildings, energy, and environment. It also involves strengthening technical capability, progressing toward professional accreditation where relevant, and building experience in project management and client interaction.

Core responsibilities

• Support senior team members in managing client and customer relationships through the use of appropriate sales or client systems.
• Oversee others on construction projects while working within established operational procedures.
• Provide assistance and guidance so external communication tools and processes are used effectively.
• Apply the organization’s HSE rules and mandatory instructions to reduce environmental and workplace risks, guide the team in safe work practices, spot unsafe behavior, and escalate serious concerns when needed.
• Share the local action plan and explain how it connects to the function’s strategy and the wider mission and vision of the organization, while encouraging people toward business goals.
• Identify policy, procedure, and regulatory non-compliance within the team, report issues, and escalate where appropriate.
• Coach team members to help them strengthen their skills.
• Use performance management practices to improve own output or, where applicable, monitor team performance, allocate work, review progress, and support formal appraisal processes.
• Plan and coordinate testing and inspection activities, implement corrective or improvement actions, and confirm they are working effectively.
• Set short-term work schedules for team members so deadlines and expectations are met.

Education

A bachelor’s degree or an equivalent qualification is required.

Experience

Applicants should have between 13 months and 3 years of general professional experience and 7 to 12 months of experience supervising more junior colleagues.
