Position Overview
This senior leadership opportunity, based in the United States, focuses on advancing and elevating enterprise risk management capabilities within a sophisticated financial technology environment. The role emphasizes shaping comprehensive risk strategies, analytics, and reporting systems designed to support informed decisions at the executive and board levels.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, refine, and integrate enterprise risk management initiatives, including frameworks for risk appetite, taxonomies, key risk and control indicators, and risk monitoring mechanisms.
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of enterprise-wide risk reporting tools, dashboards, and analytic functions to provide executives and board members with clear, actionable insights.
- Develop methodologies that aggregate risk information across multiple domains by combining risk assessments, scenario analyses, control evaluations, and business intelligence for an all-encompassing risk perspective.
- Lead scenario analysis exercises to assess potential risk exposures, identify emerging threats, and convert these analyses into strategic recommendations.
- Manage third- and fourth-party risk management programs, which include vendor risk assessment, concentration risk analysis, and governance reporting.
- Collaborate with leaders in Finance, HR, Technology, Operations, Compliance, and business units to weave strategic, financial, and personnel risks into the enterprise risk profile.
- Create and administer programs to identify and manage emerging risks by analyzing external trends and internal indicators, supporting forward-looking decisions.
- Develop and implement risk education, awareness, and training programs to enhance risk culture and foster cross-departmental cooperation.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing risk team, act as a strategic advisor to executive leadership, and drive continuous enhancements in enterprise risk management practices.
- Work closely with all lines of defense to strengthen governance structures, controls, and risk-informed decision-making processes.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent credential required; advanced degrees such as MBA or MS are preferred.
- Minimum of 12 years in enterprise risk management, operational risk, financial risk, or related fields.
- At least 7 years of experience leading enterprise risk programs, analytics teams, or strategic risk initiatives.
- 5 or more years of direct leadership and team development experience.
- In-depth knowledge of enterprise risk management frameworks, key risk indicators, risk analytics, and executive reporting.
- Preferred experience in mortgage, financial services, capital markets, or other heavily regulated sectors.
- Proven background in managing or collaborating with third-party risk management programs.
- Skilled in conducting enterprise scenario analyses, emerging risk evaluations, and forward-looking risk assessments.
- Strong grasp of financial services risk standards, compliance expectations, and governance frameworks.
- Experience translating regulatory and legal mandates into operational policies, controls, and workflows.
- Exceptional communication skills for explaining complex risk topics to board members and executive leaders.
- Strong strategic insight, business judgement, and ability to influence multiple functions and reporting lines.
- Experience overseeing SOC 1 and SOC 2 reviews, governance committees, or related oversight functions is preferred.
- Professional certifications such as CRMP, FRM, or CTPRP are advantageous but not mandatory.
- Must have authorization to work in the U.S. without needing employer sponsorship now or in the future.
