Role Summary
The Senior Design Engineer will lead the design, development, validation, and production support activities for aerospace precision components and bearing systems. This role entails detailed RFQ analysis, process innovation, collaboration with manufacturing teams, and ensuring adherence to stringent aerospace quality standards.
Experience and Educational Qualifications
- 4 to 10 years of relevant industry experience
- Preferred sectors include Aerospace, Bearing Manufacturing, Precision Components, or Defence Manufacturing
- Educational background: B.Tech or B.E. in Mechanical Engineering
Compensation and Location
- Annual salary range: 600,000 to 800,000 INR
- Job location: Ghilot, near Neemrana, Rajasthan
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end product development lifecycle from RFQ evaluation through design, validation, and production
- Create and review critical process documentation such as Process Flow Diagrams, Control Plans, PFMEA, Quality Plans, and work instructions
- Conduct technical feasibility studies for manufacturing and outsourcing options
- Coordinate closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain departments to ensure smooth product development and production readiness
- Implement design for manufacturability principles and optimize processes
- Support trial productions and process validations
- Liaise with vendors regarding tooling, fixtures, gauges, raw materials, and specialized processes
- Ensure compliance with aerospace quality standards including AS9100D and ISO 9001, along with customer-specific requirements
- Maintain technical documentation, records, and validation reports diligently
- Engage in root cause analysis and corrective actions related to product and process challenges
- Pursue opportunities for automation, process enhancements, and cost savings
- Assist in adopting new technologies, materials, and manufacturing approaches
- Contribute to development of testing methodologies, validation setups, and enhance process capabilities
Technical Expertise
- Proficient in precision manufacturing techniques including machining, grinding, heat treatment, super-finishing, and assembly
- Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerances, fits, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and Numerical Control (NC) programming
- Hands-on experience with APQP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and other quality management tools
- Knowledgeable about aerospace materials such as bearing steels and alloy steels, along with relevant engineering standards
- Experienced with CAD/CAM and design software tools like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, ANSYS, MESYS
- Understanding of validation techniques, test rigs, and engineering test concepts
- Familiarity with aerospace and defence manufacturing standards is a plus
