Role overview

The Department of the Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation (DETSI) is hiring a Senior Creative Officer for a fixed-term part-time arrangement of 3 days per week in the Communications and Public Engagement branch, based in Brisbane, Queensland.

What you will do

You will review briefs, understand stakeholder needs, and turn them into polished creative outputs that align with the department’s branding and strategic priorities. The work covers both digital and print formats and requires a hands-on designer who can adapt quickly as priorities change.

Creative work included in the role

Designing reports, brochures, signage, merchandise, and other printed collateral
Creating advertising assets, including out-of-home material
Supporting events and activations with visual design
Producing short-form video, reels, and motion graphics
Developing general corporate communication materials
Editing photos and carrying out colour grading

Tools and technical experience

Applicants need demonstrated experience with Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, and Premiere Pro. The role also calls for some practical experience in capturing still images and video, along with basic use of audio and lighting equipment. A willingness to continue building these skills is also expected.
