Senior Construction Manager - Building Construction

Role Overview

An established recruitment services firm is looking for a seasoned Senior Construction Manager to oversee all construction operations for a major building project in Doha, Qatar with a leading main contractor. The role carries end-to-end responsibility for site execution, construction planning, manpower and equipment deployment, subcontractor management, productivity, safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will coordinate all site construction teams and make sure the project is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with the approved programme and contract obligations. This opportunity is intended for an experienced construction professional with a strong track record in complex building projects delivered for major main contractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Take charge of all construction work on site from mobilisation through to project completion.
• Prepare construction strategies, work sequences, and implementation plans that match the project schedule.
• Supervise site personnel including Construction Managers, Project and Site Engineers, General Foremen, Foremen, Supervisors, and field staff.
• Lead and coordinate subcontractors to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and on time.
• Verify that construction work follows approved shop drawings, specifications, method statements, and quality standards.
• Work closely with Engineering, Planning, Procurement, QA/QC, HSE, and Commercial teams.
• Track progress on site and introduce corrective measures when delays must be recovered.
• Use manpower, equipment, and other construction resources effectively.
• Run daily, weekly, and monthly construction coordination meetings.
• Assess schedules, identify risks, and put mitigation plans in place.
• Quickly address site and construction issues as they arise.
• Review subcontractor output, productivity, and contractual adherence.
• Ensure inspections are completed and work fronts are handed over according to project needs.
• Drive strong standards in safety, quality, and housekeeping throughout the project.
• Contribute to project reports, management reviews, and client meetings.
• Assist with commissioning, snagging, testing, and final handover activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• 18 to 20 years of experience in building construction.
• At least 12 years spent in a senior site leadership position with a leading main contractor.
• Hands-on experience delivering major residential, commercial, mixed-use, hospitality, healthcare, or high-rise projects.
• Strong background in managing multidisciplinary construction teams and subcontractors.
• Prior experience in Qatar or the GCC is mandatory.

Additional Qualifications

• MMUP/UPDA registration in Qatar is preferred.
• PMP certification is considered an advantage.
• Experience on projects valued above QAR 500 million is preferred.
• Knowledge of Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS), QatarEnergy requirements, and local authority procedures is required.

Technical Skills

• Deep understanding of construction methods for reinforced concrete, structural steel, architectural finishes, and MEP interfaces.
• Solid grasp of project scheduling and construction sequencing.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and technical specifications.
• Strong awareness of QA/QC and HSE standards.
• Working knowledge of Primavera P6 and construction progress reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management tools.
