Position Overview
Joining Walmart Canada as a Self-Checkout Attendant offers the opportunity to build valuable retail industry skills. The role involves delivering outstanding customer service to ensure shoppers enjoy a smooth purchase experience while assisting them with self-service checkout facilities. This position suits individuals interested in dynamic customer service or retail careers.
Primary Duties
- Maintain the cleanliness, tidiness, and organization of the self-checkout area, ensuring it remains free of clutter, debris, foreign materials, and spills.
- Guide and educate customers on the proper and efficient use of self-service checkout systems when required.
- Encourage participation in company-sponsored programs such as credit card services, product protection plans, and charitable initiatives, where appropriate.
- Observe customer behavior to identify when assistance is needed.
- Politely explain self-service interventions or quality checks to customers, reassuring them that these procedures are standard practice to maintain checkout quality.
- Possess knowledge of handling EAS alarms and accurately complete the "Failure to Deactivate" log as needed.
- Notify the Customer Service Manager if the self-service stations are running low on cash or encountering technical issues.
- Return Scan & Go scanners to their designated locations after use.
Compensation
The starting hourly wage for this role is $17.75.
Minimum Requirements
- Applicants must be at least 16 years old.
