Position Overview
Working as a Self Checkout Attendant at Walmart Canada offers an excellent opportunity to enhance your retail skills. This role involves delivering outstanding customer service to ensure customers enjoy a smooth shopping experience while assisting them with transactions in the self-service checkout area.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain tidiness, cleanliness, and organization in the self-checkout area, keeping it free from clutter, foreign objects, liquids, and unnecessary fixtures.
- Guide customers on effectively and properly using self-checkout machines when required.
- Promote Walmart’s partner programs including credit card services, product protection plans, and charity initiatives where applicable.
- Monitor customers' activity around self-service checkouts to identify when assistance might be necessary.
- When performing interventions or quality checks, explain the process courteously to reassure customers that such measures are routine for self-checkout usage.
- Be knowledgeable about handling security alarm system (EAS) alerts and properly completing the "Failure to Deactivate" log.
- Notify the Customer Service Manager if the self-checkout area runs low on cash or encounters technical difficulties.
- Return Scan & Go devices to their designated stations after use.
Compensation
The starting hourly wage for this position is $16.90.
