Safety Officer

About the Role

The Safety Officer will be entrusted with establishing and maintaining a safe workplace within the organization. This position involves identifying workplace hazards, evaluating risks, and enforcing measures that comply with health and safety laws.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine safety audits and inspections to uncover potential workplace hazards.
• Create, implement, and uphold safety policies and procedures.
• Deliver safety training programs and support for employees at all organizational levels.
• Investigate incidents such as accidents and near misses, and prepare comprehensive reports.
• Keep current with health and safety legislation to ensure organizational compliance.
• Partner with management to advocate for and advance safety initiatives and campaigns.
• Maintain accurate safety documentation and records.
• Support emergency preparedness planning and actions when required.

Qualifications and Skills

• In-depth understanding of health and safety laws and standards.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Keen attention to detail with excellent analytical skills.
• Competence in performing risk assessments and safety audits.
• Experience in handling safety management software and related tools.
• Preferably certified in occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH).
• Proficient in problem-solving and leading safety programs.
• Knowledgeable in emergency response planning and incident investigation methods.
• Capable of working both autonomously and collaboratively within teams.
