Join RAC as a Roadside Technician based in Leeds, serving areas such as Wakefield, Castleford, Pontefract, Dewsbury, Batley, Morley, Pudsey, Otley, and Garforth. You'll work locally, starting and finishing your shifts at home, focusing your efforts on restoring vehicles to roadworthy condition in your community. Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive base salary of £42,921.87 annually (inclusive of night allowance) with an average on-target earning potential between £43,000 and £53,000, and top earners can surpass £60,000 through bonuses and overtime.
  • Participation in a colleague share scheme to benefit from the company’s growth at no cost.
  • Free RAC Ultimate breakdown cover from day one.
  • Access to a car salary sacrifice scheme with electric vehicle options available after 12 months to reduce tax liability.
  • Generous leave entitlement starting at 23 days plus bank holidays, increasing to 25 days based on service.
  • Up to 6.5% matched pension contributions coupled with life insurance covering up to 4 times your salary (up to 10 times with flex benefits).
  • 24/7 confidential wellbeing support available for employees and their families.
  • Exclusive discounts on tools, technology, holidays, and more via the Orange Savings portal.

Requirements

  • NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent, paired with at least 2 years of relevant experience; alternatively, a minimum of 5 years as a Vehicle Technician or Mechanic.
  • A full UK driving license with fewer than 6 penalty points.

What You’ll Do

As a Roadside Technician, you will troubleshoot and repair a wide range of vehicle issues on-site, providing prompt and reassuring service to breakdown members. You will be equipped with your own RAC van, fuel card, uniform, essential tools, and diagnostic equipment to perform your tasks effectively. The role demands excellent problem-solving skills and adaptability to handle diverse roadside challenges independently while maintaining superior customer service standards.
