Join the RAC as a Roadside Technician
Become part of the team dedicated to keeping the UK moving. As a Roadside Technician with RAC, you'll be equipped with a Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or an equivalent) and a minimum of two years' experience. Location and Work Details
You will be based in the Chelmsford cluster covering the surrounding regions including Brentwood, Basildon, Southend‑on‑Sea, Grays, Tilbury, Thurrock, Maldon, Braintree, Canvey Island, and Rayleigh. The work schedule is demand-driven, averaging 40 hours per week with optional overtime. You will start and finish your day at your own home, focusing on assisting members within your local area.
Role Responsibilities
- Deliver expert mechanical repairs and vehicle diagnostics on the roadside.
- Provide emergency breakdown assistance, including flat battery fixes, tyre changes, and complex fault-finding.
- Offer quick, reliable solutions to restore members' vehicles and provide reassurance in challenging situations.
Requirements
- Possess an NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance or an equivalent certification, with at least 2 years' relevant experience; alternatively, have 5 or more years as a Vehicle Technician or Mechanic.
- Hold a full UK driving licence with fewer than six penalty points.
