About the Role
H&P describes its people as the company’s greatest asset. The Rig Material Controller role is centered on ensuring that materials, services, and stock are handled efficiently across the supply chain function and that internal customers receive timely support.
Job Purpose
This position helps coordinate sourcing and material flow activities by supporting functional leaders and colleagues in procuring goods and services, strengthening supply chain management practices, and maintaining control over the purchase-to-pay process in SAP. The role also aims to improve external spend, make better use of available stock, and speed up the processing of purchase requests so requirements are clearly understood by the next function in the chain.
Scope of the Job
The Material Coordinator is responsible for managing service entry booking, goods receipt booking, stock valued at USD 1 million, purchase requisition creation, and the requirements of multiple internal clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Check and process material requests submitted by requesters, making sure all mandatory details are complete so the request can move forward quickly and accurately.
- Review stock transfers and goods receipt entries to confirm items are posted to the correct store locations.
- Update master data records whenever changes are made by store personnel.
- Collect the information needed for status updates and keep internal stakeholders informed on behalf of the SCM team.
- Use existing stock within the wider group to reduce external purchasing and improve inventory turnover.
- Assess requests and prioritize available stock use to limit outside spending and support better turnover performance.
Planning and Coordination
- Work with requesters and related teams to resolve clarifications needed during day-to-day operations.
- Support the identification, planning, and coordination of bulk orders together with the supervisor.
- Assist with or lead ad hoc improvement initiatives and activities aimed at better business processes or lower external spend.
Internal and External Stakeholder Relations
- Maintain regular coordination with local and international purchasers for clarifications, progress updates, and service-related requests.
- Work with the coding team on job-related matters.
- Coordinate with the finance department for service entry postings.
- Liaise with rig warehouse personnel to process purchase requisitions and resolve any required clarifications.
- Work with the customs coordinator and logistics supervisor to arrange transport.
- Keep requesters updated on the status of their requests.
- Engage with external auditors when needed.
Challenges in the Role
- Consistently meet assigned KPIs and help improve them while resolving issues promptly.
- Serve as the main communication point between all involved parties and provide a single point of contact for the customer.
- Ensure strict adherence to WWS requirements, procedures, and policies.
