Overview
The Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in guaranteeing that products, processes, and systems adhere to defined quality benchmarks and fulfill customer expectations. This position demands the creation and upkeep of quality control procedures, execution of inspections and audits, in-depth defect analysis, application of corrective measures, and advocacy for continuous improvements to elevate product quality and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, establish, and sustain quality assurance and control protocols.
- Supervise manufacturing and operational workflows to verify conformity with quality criteria.
- Carry out product and process inspections, testing, and audits.
- Examine quality-related problems, address customer grievances, and rectify non-compliance issues.
- Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Analyze quality data and generate reports reflecting quality performance metrics.
- Collaborate across engineering, production, suppliers, and clients to resolve quality challenges.
- Integrate quality standards into product development processes.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for quality systems, procedures, and standards.
- Ensure adherence to relevant industry regulations and certifications such as ISO 9001, IATF 16949, AS9100, and GMP.
- Engage in supplier quality assessments and audits.
- Lead continuous improvement projects employing Lean, Six Sigma, and other methodologies.
- Train staff on quality protocols, procedures, and exemplary practices.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality Management, Manufacturing, or related disciplines.
- Minimum of 1-year experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or manufacturing quality roles.
- In-depth understanding of quality management systems and associated tools.
- Proficient in root cause analysis techniques including 5 Whys, Fishbone (Ishikawa) Diagrams, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA).
- Skilled in statistical analysis and quality improvement strategies.
- Experience with quality tools such as Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), Control Plans, and Process Capability Studies.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills paired with a collaborative team approach.
Preferred Certifications and Knowledge
- Certifications including Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma Green or Black Belt, and Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) are advantageous.
- Familiarity with industry-specific standards and compliance requirements is a plus.
