Overview
This role involves proofreading the final draft of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2027-2030 document for Mozambique. The document articulates the joint strategic efforts of the UN to support national development priorities aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This is a short-term, remote volunteer assignment lasting one week, requiring 1 to 5 hours per week. It is non-contractual and unpaid, with a certificate of appreciation upon successful completion.
Responsibilities
- Carefully proofread the entire UNSDCF 2027-2030 document to identify and correct errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax, and typographical mistakes.
- Ensure uniformity in language use, capitalization, numbering, headings, abbreviations, acronyms, and formatting throughout the document.
- Check the consistency of tables, figures, annexes, page numbers, and cross-references.
- Verify compliance with United Nations editorial standards and promote the use of inclusive language.
- Flag any inconsistencies or formatting issues for the Resident Coordinator's Office without altering substantive content.
- Incorporate collected proofreading comments as directed to produce a clean, publication-ready version.
Requirements
- University degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Linguistics, or related disciplines.
- Proven experience in proofreading or copyediting professional reports, publications, or policy documents.
- Exceptional command of written English and keen attention to detail.
- Familiarity with UN editorial guidelines or prior proofreading for international organizations is an advantage.
- Ability to work efficiently under tight deadlines while maintaining confidentiality.
- Native-level proficiency in English is required.
