Overview
Gigafest Consulting is looking to hire an experienced Project Manager to contribute to a significant infrastructure development project within the Ontario public sector. The position is based in Aurora, Ontario with a hybrid working model requiring 2–3 days onsite. The contract duration is 14 months, starting on August 17, 2026, with the potential for a one-year extension.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in managing large-scale, complex Information and Information Technology (I&IT) projects within the Ontario Public Service (OPS).
- Create and maintain comprehensive project schedules and integrated plans to guide implementation activities.
- Ensure that projects are completed within the agreed-upon scope, timelines, and budgets.
- Lead business planning efforts, organizational development, and strategy formulation.
- Develop and manage complex project budgets while maintaining fiscal accountability and control.
- Identify project risks, challenges, and interdependencies; devise and implement mitigation strategies.
- Manage relationships with senior executives and produce high-quality executive briefings and recommendations.
- Participate in or establish steering committees, stakeholder forums, and governance meetings to support oversight and guidance.
- Assist in preparing public-sector business cases, funding requests, and competitive procurement processes.
- Coordinate project monitoring, resolve issues, oversee change management, and drive implementation processes.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience managing infrastructure development projects.
- Track record of delivering complex, large-scale integrated project and implementation plans.
- Experience interacting with senior leadership and managing executive relationships.
- Familiarity with public-sector funding acquisition, business cases, and procurement procedures.
- Strong capabilities in project budgeting, fiscal control, risk management, and governance.
- Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, decision-making skills, and stakeholder communication.
- Knowledge of change management principles and practices.
- Understanding of PMI's Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) is a plus.
- Awareness of information management concepts and policies is beneficial.
- Familiarity with Ontario accessibility legislation (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) and related standards is advantageous.
- Experience advising on the acquisition of technology resources such as software and hardware considered an asset.
