About the Role
Afrimat CM Western Cape(Pty) LTD is seeking a Production Manager to oversee daily sand mining and processing operations at their Macassar, Western Cape location. This position demands comprehensive knowledge of mining, quarrying, and aggregate production, with a strong focus on efficient, safe, and compliant management.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum education: Grade 12 (Matric).
- Degree, Diploma, or National Diploma in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Management, or related fields.
- Valid RSA Driver’s License is required.
- Supervisory or Management Development qualifications are an advantage.
- Mine Overseer Certificate or equivalent credentials are preferred.
- At least 8-10 years experience in mining, quarrying, or aggregate production operations.
- Minimum of 5 years in a management role within production or mining environments.
- Proven expertise in sand mining and processing operations.
- Strong knowledge of mobile plant operations, processing equipment, maintenance principles, and applicable legislation including MHSA, OHSA, and environmental laws.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead and manage daily sand mining and processing operation activities.
- Ensure production goals are achieved with safety and efficiency.
- Coordinate mining, processing, stockpiling, and dispatch tasks.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to boost productivity.
- Oversee plant and equipment performance maximizing uptime.
- Manage maintenance activities to reduce downtimes.
- Optimize use of labor, equipment, and materials.
- Identify process improvements to increase operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and legal standards, including EMP requirements.
- Drive a strong safety culture across the operations.
- Lead investigations into incidents and enforce corrective actions.
- Prepare reports on production, operations, and maintenance performance.
- Monitor and control operational budgets.
- Support strategic planning and forecasting.
- Supervise, train, and mentor team members, managing attendance, discipline, and shift rosters.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation.
