Role Overview

The Director of Procurement will own regional sourcing strategy and improve procurement processes, systems, and tools. This leadership role manages a spend portfolio of up to $800M+ across direct and indirect goods and services, covering categories such as laboratory and operating supplies, technology, travel, fleet, professional services, field equipment, logistics, and real estate/facilities in a complex, regulated matrix environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strong regional partnerships with business stakeholders to understand priorities and deliver sustainable P&L improvements.
  • Develop category subject-matter expertise within the region and guide sourcing and supply chain strategies.
  • Contribute as an active member of the regional Procurement Leadership Team, helping shape strategy and roll out sourcing and procurement initiatives in line with internal standards and procedures.
  • Drive initiatives that strengthen the maturity of procurement and vendor management capabilities.
  • Improve reporting, governance, knowledge sharing, and communication across the business.
  • Protect the organization by managing supply-base risk through strong contracts, SLA/KPI tracking, financial oversight, and policy/system compliance.
  • Design and implement procurement policies, best practices, and sourcing approaches.
  • Support supplier performance management and relationship management programs.
  • Lead supplier rationalization efforts to optimize the regional supply base.
  • Coach cross-functional partners to continuously improve total cost of ownership for indirect goods and services.
  • Ensure adherence to corporate policies, systems, controls, and assigned duties.

Qualifications

Education and experience required: a bachelor’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field; 10+ years of procurement management experience; and 5+ years supervising employees.

Preferred: a master’s degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management or an MBA, together with the experience above.

Certifications: Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) designation is preferred/desired.

Skills and Competencies

Compensation and Benefits

The expected base salary for this position is CAD 130,000 to CAD 140,000 annually, depending on skills, experience, and qualifications.
