About Seloxium
Seloxium Limited is an innovative spin-out from the University of Oxford focused on advancing clean growth and circular economy practices within mining and refining. The company has developed a proprietary selective flocculation technology designed to selectively recover valuable metals from industrial water streams, offering a sustainable alternative for metal resource recovery and reuse. Seloxium operates from two sites: an R&D laboratory in Oxford and a pilot plant in the North East of England.
Role Overview
We are seeking an Analytical Chemist to join our team at The Wilton Centre in Redcar, Teesside. This hands-on position involves supporting laboratory functions ranging from routine sample analysis to assisting in the development of selective metal extraction techniques. Your efforts will contribute directly to improving our patented Selectal™ technology, enhancing our leadership in Aqua Mining solutions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine analytical laboratory activities including sample preparation, solution handling, pipetting, and titration.
- Assist in applying instrumental analysis methods such as ICP, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and chromatography, supporting data collection and interpretation.
- Support research and development efforts related to selective metal extraction and polymer chemistry advancement.
- Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team consisting of engineers, chemists, and plant technicians.
- Maintain adherence to safety standards including COSHH regulations and assist with risk assessments.
- Operate independently while managing assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
Candidate Requirements
- A degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or comparable scientific discipline.
- Practical experience in key laboratory techniques including solution preparation, pipetting, titration, and basic analytical instrumentation operation.
- Familiarity or experience with analytical techniques such as ICP, UV-Vis, or chromatography is beneficial.
- Preferably experienced in laboratory support within R&D projects and knowledge of metal extraction technologies.
- Previous work experience in startups or SMEs demonstrating adaptability and initiative is desirable.
- Ability to work on-site at Redcar, U.K.
